Trade Diary – (Current monies deposited into Fidelity IRA via 401K rollovers, deposits, and Coke pension cash-out =  $70,052) (Excludes Employer 401K balance  (KO Stock)  :-)

JAN 5th: CTBI came off the Dividend Champions Strategy last month. I waited to sell because the Dividend was scheduled for 1/3.

Jan 9th: No change this month on the Dividend Champions Strategy. Holding $3,320 in cash. err

Feb 7th: One turnover this month on the Dividend Champions Strategy. Sell UVV and buy KMB. Sold UVV for a 29% profit and bought KMB.

Mar 8th: One turnover this month on the Dividend Champions Strategy. Sell KMB and buy WEYS

Mar 14th: Bought 21 more shares of TGT.

May Update: I’m changing up my portfolio. The current holdings just do not produce enough income. Now that the market is at an all-time high the Dividend Champion Strategy isn’t working too well. The plan is too sell everything but a couple equites and move to a Contrarian Portfolio.

The High-Yield Dividend Champions Strategy (*) picks the best 10 companies from the Dividend Champions list,
and the Dogs of the Dow Strategy (++) picks the 10 highest yielding Dow stocks. These two strategies worked but now, not so much.

The new portfolio comes from ContrarianOutlook.com. The advice cost $39 the first year then $99 a year thereafter. The portfolio comprises about 17 equities and a newsletter is published the first Friday of each month with any buy and sell recommendations.

I also have selected several holdings from a Seeking Alfa contributor by the name of Left Banker. It is free advice and the page can be Found Here.

This new strategy will strengthen the portfolio and generated a safe and very high yield.

I’m also taking KO off the tracker. Our new owners at work won’t allow KO purchases in our new 401k’s going forward. I still own the stock, in the new 401k, but can’t add more shares and dividends won’t buy more.

May14th: I sold a couple last week, ORI and ED, and bought a couple, FAX and DSL. As the last five come into profit, if they every do, I’ll sell them and continue the transition to the Contrarian Portfolio.

June 3rd: Just sent of the documents necessary to get my pension cash-option. I’ll get a check for about $37,000, which I will mail to Fidelity. I have 14 picks already planned for purchase and will update the dividend tracker with share counts as I purchase them.

Aug 18th: Pension closure rollover completed, portfolio buys and sells updated. $66,552 is the total I have deposited and the current IRA balance is $72,855.  I bought eight securities today and will place orders for three more for Monday. I’ll leave 6k in cash to purchase any new recommendation from the Contrarian Fellows.

Sept 15th: I’m liking the change. I sold Phizer today for a small profit. That leaves Target, AT&T, and Target. While these positions are in the red I’ll wait till they go green, if they ever do, and collect the small dividends.

The Contrarian Portfolio Newsletter this month offered nothing new. Only that any new monies should go to buy specific equities we already own, so, I bought 100 more shares of CLNS and 50 more shares of RA. Still holding a balance of 5k.

Sept 25: Sold AT&T for a small profit. Took a long time to go green. That leaves Target and Verizon still in the red. Added shares of EOD and OHI, $1,000 on each. 24 current holdings with solid dividend payers. Next year I’ll start back to tracking month-to-month dividend totals. Portfolio analysis shows 61% domestic stock, 8% foreign stock, 24% bonds, and 7% short term bond. Very close to my 70/30 goal, which is aggressive growth.

Third Quarter Update: To soon too tell on dividend performance…

October-End Update: All equities in the new portfolio will pay in the forth quarter, except my new addition BDG, for this month. Let’s add them up and get an idea of income performance going into 2018…

November 2nd Update: Deposited 3k in the Traditional IRA and 3k in a new Roth IRA. Nov 15, bought more shares of OHI, SNR, and UNIT.

November 28th: Sold Target for a small profit, when dividends are added. Added to current holdings, MIC and LADR. Keeping 3k balance for Contrarian email tease that the next newsletter will have a new recommendation.

December 12th: Sold Verizon at $1.10 profit and added shares to BGH and IGD.

Forth Quarter Update: Changing my Traditional IRA investment strategy in May, building a pure dividend portfolio, seems to have payed off. It took a few months to transition and the Fourth Quarter  results are great. The portfolio generated $1,478 in the last three months. Next year the portfolio should bring $6,000 in dividends.

The new Roth IRA is down a bit but it should turn around. I plan to max my contributions again in 2018, 3.5k in the Traditional, and another 3k in the Roth.
