Trade Diary:
Current monies deposited into Fidelity Traditional IRA via 401K Rollover, closed Coke-Cola Pension Rollover, deposits, minus withdraws ($0) =  $74,552

Jan 1st: Starting Traditional IRA balance is $78,701, Roth is $2,925.

I’m going to track the Contrarian Portfolio monthly advice in my wife’s IRA, P2.

1st Quarter Results: I think my goal for our IRA’s is working pretty well. The first quarter dividend average for mine was $600. That’s $100 over the fourth quarter of last year. I can estimate my $1,803 1st Quarter dividend return will equate to a $7,212 return for the year. That is a 9.5% return on a $75,656 balance.

The balance dipped a lot in February, back to what it was in October, but it’s trending back up.

Apr 23rd: I sold SLVO at breakeven, when dividends are added. I took that, and the 500 deposit in March and executed a buy order for 49 more shares of DSL, currently at 8.82% dividend.

The $1,000 contribution for April; executed a buy order for 66 more shares of NRZ, currently at 12.8% dividend.

May 11th: I sold FAX at a $87 loss.

May 14th: Bought 128 shares of UTF.

June 15th: Used a $1,000 contribution to buy 86 more shares of AWF.

2nd Quarter Results: I ended June strong, the second quarter is over all positive. The portfolio is churning out cash and automatically buying more shares.  CLNS cut it’s dividend in half in order to pay off expansion debt. The share price tanked and I’m down $1,936 on the 296 shares I own but it is still paying and is now a great bargain. It’s been renamed CLNY and was a Contrarian Portfolio sell recommendation, but I hate selling at such a large loss.

September 7th: New Contrarian Advice: Buy PK and sell CLDT. I used the September $2,000 contribution to buy JPS, a Contrarian Portfolio Fund I didn’t own yet. Also placed a sell order for CLDT, to make a $278 profit.

September 13th: Sold CLDT and SFL. Bought JPS and ARI. I made about $600 profit on the sale and the two new additions pay a higher dividend and should also rise in stock price.

Year End Results: I’m glad I bought the Contrarian Portfolio Subscription last year. The year end balance is $77,050, which is about two thousand less than we started the year at.  The portfolio payed $7,243 in dividends, which bought a lot more shares of each equity.  The year starting balance was $78,700, the dividend paid gave me little over 9% return on investment.

To get an idea of the dividend performance I’ll look at the total paid at each quarter.

3rd quarter 2017 $1,479
1st quarter 2018 $1,805
2nd quarter 2018 $1,709
3rd quarter 2018 $1,824
4th quarter 2018 $1,907

This is very solid considering CLNY and SNR cut their dividends in half mid-year. Add the loss in value of these two with MIC and the three account for 1/2 of the loss of the 2018 value gains of the portfolio. I own pretty equal dollar amounts of the three, $10,814, yet they are now worth $5,495. They paid $741 in dividends for the year.

I’m optimistic the portfolio will continue it’s steady dividend growth through compounding and no major changes or selling is necessary.
